Los Angeles Personal Injury Lawyer

A serious injury claim depends on more than proving that an incident happened. Mayberry Law helps clients preserve evidence, connect the event to medical and financial losses, address insurance pressure, and build a claim around the complete facts.

A Personal Injury Claim Needs a Clear Theory and a Complete Record

Responsibility, medical causation, damages, coverage, and deadlines must be developed together. Our clients work directly with the attorneys responsible for preserving the evidence, explaining the options, and preparing the claim for negotiation or trial.

What to Do After a Serious Injury

Your health comes first. The next priority is creating a reliable record before a condition changes, a product is discarded, video is overwritten, or an insurer asks for conclusions you are not ready to make.

Review California civil filing deadlines

Get appropriate medical care

Seek emergency help when needed and follow through with appropriate care. Tell providers how the incident occurred and report new or changing symptoms accurately.

Report and document the incident

Notify the appropriate business, agency, employer, property representative, or law-enforcement body. Photograph the scene, visible injuries, damaged property, warnings, and surrounding conditions.

Preserve evidence and witnesses

Keep damaged products, clothing, footwear, devices, receipts, and original files. Collect witness information and identify nearby cameras before recordings are routinely overwritten.

Build the medical and financial record

Keep treatment instructions, bills, wage records, expense receipts, and a short account of symptoms, restrictions, and activities you can no longer perform normally.

Communicate without guessing

Give accurate basic facts when notice is required, but do not speculate about fault, injury extent, recovery time, or case value before the evidence and medical course are understood.

Early Insurance Decisions Can Shape the Entire Claim

An adjuster may begin evaluating responsibility and value while the injured person is still in treatment. A careful response protects accuracy without allowing the claim to be defined by its earliest and least complete version.

A statement can freeze an incomplete account

Pain, memory, diagnosis, and scene evidence may still be developing. Review requests for written or recorded statements before adopting assumptions or minimizing symptoms.

A release can close unknown losses

Early settlement discussions may occur before future care, work restrictions, or lasting effects are known. A signed release can permanently end the claim.

Broad records requests can distract from causation

Insurers may seek extensive medical history. A focused response should document the injury while protecting against unrelated issues becoming the center of the dispute.

Responsibility may extend beyond one person

Businesses, property owners, manufacturers, contractors, employers, drivers, and public entities can have different duties, evidence, coverage, and deadlines.

What Evidence Shapes a Personal Injury Claim?

There is no honest universal calculator. The available recovery depends on responsibility, coverage, medical evidence, work consequences, documented expenses, and the injury's effect on daily life.

Medical care and future needs

Emergency treatment, diagnostics, physician care, medication, therapy, surgery, rehabilitation, assistive devices, and reasonably supported future care may be relevant.

Income and earning capacity

Claims may include missed wages, reduced hours, lost opportunities, job changes, and diminished earning capacity when supported by work and medical evidence.

Property and out-of-pocket loss

Repair or replacement costs, transportation, household help, accessibility needs, and other documented expenses may form part of the economic loss.

Pain and life disruption

Depending on the claim, evidence may address pain, inconvenience, emotional distress, scarring, disability, sleep disruption, and loss of activities or independence.

Personal Injury Claims We Handle

Mayberry Law represents injured people and families across Los Angeles and Southern California.

How Mayberry Law Develops the Claim

We turn a disruptive event into a clear, evidence-based claim while keeping the attorneys responsible for the strategy directly involved.

Map the claim

We identify immediate needs, potential defendants, coverage, deadlines, and the evidence required to connect the incident to the loss.

Preserve and investigate

We secure available physical, digital, witness, reporting, and business records before they disappear or change.

Document the full loss

We organize medical, wage, expense, and daily-impact evidence so the claim reflects more than the first bills.

Prepare for dispute

We pursue a fair resolution and prepare for litigation when responsibility or the injury's full effect is not acknowledged.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long do I have to file a personal injury claim in California?+
California's ordinary deadline for many personal-injury actions is generally two years, but discovery rules, minors, medical negligence, public entities, and other facts can change the analysis. Review the California Courts deadline guide and get advice about the specific incident.
What if a city, county, school, or other public entity may be involved?+
California generally requires a claim relating to death or personal injury to be presented to the public entity within six months after accrual, subject to detailed rules and exceptions. See Government Code §911.2.
What if I may have been partly at fault?+
Do not assume partial responsibility ends the claim. California can allocate fault among the people and entities involved. The effect depends on the evidence and the legal duties that apply.
How much does it cost to speak with Mayberry Law?+
The initial case evaluation is free. For personal injury matters handled on contingency, attorney fees are collected only if the firm obtains a recovery. The written fee agreement controls any representation.
